How I Scored First Class Tickets to Costa Rica for $546 RT
I love scoring a great deal on airfare. I've been lucky in the past, on occasion, but this particular deal is my best score so far in terms of comfort along with the price. Keep reading for the deets.
Now, let me preface this with the fact that I did not get this deal by using a bunch of points that were accrued from business/personal travel, or a "travel fare glitch." Let me also say that $546 is a decent amount of money, and I am grateful that I had the cash on hand to secure the deal. By far, airfare can be the most expensive part of travel. However, with proper financial planning and flexibility with your time, you may be in a position to score a great deal as well. For example, setting up a travel fund where you make small monthly deposits of $50 a month. Another option is to use a payment plan service like Airfodable. Airfordable will allow you to book a ticket and spread the payments over 2, 3 or 4 installments, for a small fee.
I had put Costa Rica on my travel wish list for 2018. I knew I would get there, I just did not know the how or the when and didn't want to focus too much on it. Well, the universe delivered BIG! This awesome deal Business Class – Delta – $542: San Francisco – San Jose, Costa Rica. Roundtrip, including all Taxes via TheFlightDeal website landed in my inbox. TheFlightDeal is one of my favorite sites to watch for great deals. The information they provide is very detailed and if you follow the directions as prescribed, and have really FAST fingers (the deals disappear pretty quickly) you can snag a good deal. Well, imagine my surprise, when I start plugging in my dates and I see that FIRST CLASS tickets were available. I couldn't believe it! Sure, it wasn't a direct flight, but all of the legs were in first class, so I went ahead and secured my ticket.
Now, if you're really into travel hacking, you can use a credit card to secure the ticket so that you earn points, and of course, you should also be a rewards member of the airline, so you can get those miles too. There are many ways to make travel affordable and dare I say comfortable. You just have to do a bit of diligence and be commitment.
Love & Light to you.
